About Us

Our company, Texas Perfection Land and Longhorn Cattle Company, got its start in 1977 when my wife and I moved to the little town of Blue, Texas, with seven head of longhorns given to us by her father.

My father-in-law sold his ranch in Houston, Texas, in 2004 and asked us to keep the core group of his herd until another location could be found. As weeks turned to months and months to years, it became apparent the cattle would never leave our ranch, so I found myself in possession of one heck of a herd of longhorns.

None of the cattle came with paperwork and only a few were branded, so it took us several years to trace back their holding brands and to learn they had come from Blackie Graves Ranch, 3H Cattle Co.

My father-in-law grew up in Shiner and my mother-in-law grew up a small farm house in Dayton. They got married and moved to a ranch in Houston and were in need of cattle. My mother-in-law knew of an older gentleman, a former neighbor, who had longhorns. Blackie Graves set them up with a nice little starter herd to get them going. A 19-year-old cow is the only remaining cow with the 3H brand.

Once that work was completed, we were able to get replacement certificates for those cattle. Shortley thereafter we bought our herd sire, BRR LUCIANO PAVAROTTI, from the Bela Rio Ranch as well as few more brood cows to go along with the Butler genetics already in place.

My father-in-law lost a long battle with cancer in 2007, setting us back a bit. He was the inspiration for all of us and we miss him. After his death I asked for and received permission to pick up the TEXAS PERFECTION brand and began using it in memory of my father-in-law.

We are slowly adding more Straight Butler cattle along with other quality longhorn cattle to go with our Straight Butler junior herd sire, LEAGUE OF STARS. We are continuing to carry on the Butler genetics today with great pride.
